Divine Art Sculpture: Shiva Nataraja (Khmom Art)
Modeled after the pediment of Phanom Rung Castle
Lord Shiva Nataraja is sacred in dispelling evil and ignorance, destroying evil, attaining the arts and happiness, granting success in one's career, and protecting one from danger, especially those engaged in performing arts.
The most important day for worshiping Shiva Nataraja is called Arudra Darshan, a significant Hindu festival that occurs annually. In the year 2026, according to the Hindu calendar, it will fall on Monday, January 19, 2026. Arudra Darshan is a significant day in the worship of Shiva. In many texts, it is considered the day Shiva first appeared in this form. In some texts, it is also considered the day of Shiva's birth. Special ceremonies and prayers are held, especially in Hindu temples around the world. (If a Shiva Nataraja idol is not available, other forms of Shiva can be worshipped.)
